OpenWoW, homage and pun intended

This week WoWStack has made a bit of a change: we ditched the idea of running a WoW private server on our own.

Instead, we decided to turn WoWStack into an umbrella project to manage the return of Legacy WoW to the community.

What We Started With

OpenWoW is the initial child project which builds and maintains tools and servers to run your own World of Warcraft Private Server. Whether you are using a vanilla WoW install or trying out the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, this will handle it.

Additional features include:

  • data restoration,
  • game client archives,
  • client patch archives,
  • documentation of data formats, client/server communication, and more.

We will be publishing much more in the coming weeks, so subscribe to updates for more.

Head to and have a look!
